B02- User Generated Content

User generated content is all around us, this very blog you are reading is user generated content. With the ever evolving technology, user generated content is more accessible than ever before! With so many people having access to post whatever they want, issues can begin to stem with how accurate the information we are reading is. Popular websites like Wikipedia may seem like the best option because it is one of the first sources to come up when putting in a Google search, however Wikipedia is often riddled with incorrect information as anyone is able to upload information onto Wikipedia. This can even be followed in social media as I have said before, my goal with this blog is to help weed out inaccurate hacks, recipes, and workouts with user generated content intended to get the most clicks. More clicks means more engagement, which means more money. Users will create crazy eye catching thumbnails with desirable results to get the most engagement, whether or not the information is true.

These videos have "clickbait" thumbnails, showing the desirable results with little time. "These are the only exercises you need to get washboard abs" in an attempt to get engagement with no research or consideration of other factors. With lack of information, consumers will begin to feel discouraged when their expectation is not met with "reality" if influencers and creators of user generated content provide more and accurate information engagement will grow over time instead of exponentially, promising abs in two weeks will be popular for three weeks until consumers get tired of inaccurate results, having accurate information with genetics, calorie deficits, and benefits of exercises and how to build abs overtime will have engagement continuing to come back, and sharing with friends. Receiving results becomes addicting and people will want to continue if information is accurate and the results are honest.
